Polytechnic Admissions Routes (JAE, EAE, PFP, JPAE, DAE)
JPAE is conducted jointly by the five polytechnics to allow eligible ITE graduates and final-semester ITE students to apply for full-time polytechnic diploma courses.
The original page incorrectly described JPAE as the university application portal for polytechnic diploma graduates. JPAE is primarily the ITE-to-polytechnic admissions exercise.
Each polytechnic conducts its own Direct Admissions Exercise for applicants with local or international qualifications who are not eligible to apply through the other standard admissions exercises.

University Credit Exemptions & Advanced Placement (APCs)
There is no Singapore-wide rule giving every polytechnic graduate one full year of university credit. Credit exemptions are granted by individual universities and often by programme.
Up to 40 Advanced Placement Credits in relevant courses for eligible polytechnic diploma holders admitted to 3- or 4-year programmes.
40 Units can be equivalent to about one academic year in programmes where the credit structure makes that comparison appropriate, but students must still satisfy the degree's graduation requirements.
Not every NUS programme grants the full 40 units.
Exemptions vary by school and programme.
From the AY2026 cohort, NTU's College of Computing and Data Science grants all local polytechnic diploma holders a standardised 6 Academic Unit exemption across its undergraduate programmes.

A GPA of 3.5 is not a universal Singapore university-admission cutoff for polytechnic diploma holders.

Many full-time polytechnic diploma programmes are structured over 3 years.
A polytechnic graduate is not universally admitted directly into second year. The starting year and duration depend on the university, degree and credits/exemptions granted.
