1 point when all relevant spouse, child and family-status information is accurately declared and the supporting civil documents are available where applicable. Family circumstances are one factor ICA considers.
1 point when the applicant can accurately describe relevant Singapore ties, integration and commitment to sinking roots without treating volunteering, donations or community activity as guaranteed bonus points.

ICA requires the documents relevant to the applicant's particular PR category. Certified true copies and official translations are required under ICA's published document rules, and insufficient documentation can result in non-acceptance. ICA may request additional documents.

Translation Rules
- Translation provided by the embassy of the country or place that issued the document.
- Translation produced by a notary public in Singapore or the country or place that issued the document.
- Private translation attested by the issuing embassy or notarised by a notary public in Singapore.

Family And N S
Family
Family members have their own ICA PR eligibility categories. A spouse of a Singapore citizen or PR and an unmarried child below 21 meeting ICA's stated conditions are separate eligible categories; they should not be described as automatically receiving PR simply because an EP or S Pass holder applies.
Parents
An aged parent of a Singapore citizen of at least 21 is a separate ICA PR eligibility category. Parents are not an automatic dependent category under the EP/S Pass PTS route.
National Service
ICA states that male Singapore citizens and PRs are generally liable for National Service unless exempted. ICA specifically identifies male applicants granted PR as a foreign student or under their parents' sponsorship as NS-liable. The page should not imply that every first-generation male PTS applicant has the same NS liability.
Ns Timing
For male applicants who become PR as a foreign student or under parents' sponsorship, ICA states that NS registration occurs at 16.5 years and enlistment is scheduled at the earliest opportunity after 18, subject to the applicable education and enlistment rules.
Service Length
Full-time National Service is generally two years, but the exact timing and obligations depend on the applicable MINDEF/CMPB framework.
Re Entry Permit
Requirement
A valid Re-Entry Permit (REP) is necessary whenever a Singapore PR travels out of Singapore and wishes to retain PR status while away.
Current Rule
From 1 December 2025, ICA states that a PR may lose PR status under the applicable 180-day framework if travelling without a valid REP or if the REP becomes invalid while overseas and the required REP application and outcome conditions are not met.
Renewal Window
ICA currently states that an REP should be renewed online within three months before expiry.
Fee
ICA currently charges S$10 for every year or part thereof of an approved REP.
Processing
ICA's general processing time for REP applications is within one week, excluding the day of submission, although some applications may take longer.
Appeal
Eligibility
A person can use ICA's appeal e-Service only after receiving a rejected application for Singapore Citizenship, Permanent Residence or Long-Term Visit Pass.
Submission
Appeals must be submitted through ICA's e-Service; ICA does not accept appeals in person, by email or by post.
Assessment
Each appeal is assessed on its own merits, taking into account factors such as family ties, economic contributions, qualifications, age, family profile and length of residency.
Documents
New documents and official translations may be uploaded to support an appeal.
Processing
Appeal processing times vary. ICA does not publish a universal six-month appeal deadline or a universal 12-month reapplication waiting period on its current appeal page.
