Primary AAIP Worker Pathways
The AAIP selects candidates under several targeted streams depending on their occupation and employer support:
- Accelerated Tech Pathway: Fast-track nomination for Express Entry candidates working in one of 38 designated tech occupations (like Software Engineers, Data Scientists, or Designers) with an eligible Alberta tech company.
- Tourism & Hospitality Stream: For individuals with at least 6 months of work experience with an Alberta hospitality employer. Requires lower language bands (CLB 4) compared to other professional streams.
- Alberta Opportunity Stream: For temporary foreign workers already working full-time in Alberta in eligible occupations. Requires proof of local residency and employer sponsorship.
- Rural Renewal Stream: Community-backed pathway allowing designated rural communities to recruit and sponsor foreign workers to fill local worker shortages.
General Eligibility Criteria
While each pathway has distinct requirements, standard criteria include:
- Job Offer: A valid, full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an Alberta employer who is registered and operating in the province.
- Language Proficiency: Minimum CLB 4 for TEER 4-5 occupations, and CLB 5 or 7 for TEER 0-3 professional roles.
- Education: Minimum high school equivalent (ECA verified if credentials were earned outside of Canada).
