All visa, green card, and citizenship applications submitted to USCIS or the Department of State must meet these digital specifications:
- Background: Solid white or off-white background with zero shadows.
- Expression: Neutral facial expression (no heavy smiling or frowning).
- Accessories: Glasses must be removed (unless for documented medical reasons). Headwear is only allowed for religious or medical exemptions.
- Lighting: Bright, uniform illumination with no shadows on the face or background.
