Frequently Asked Questions (WPS Payroll Compliance)
The Wage Protection System (WPS) is an electronic salary transfer database established by MoHRE and CBUAE. All private sector employers must transfer staff salaries through licensed WPS banks or exchange houses.
Salaries must be paid on the due date specified in employment contracts, and no later than 15 days after the due date to avoid WPS non-compliance warnings under our MoHRE Labor Law Guide.
Private sector employers must pay at least 80% of their total registered workforce salary through WPS every calendar month.
Employers delaying salary transfers by 30 days face new work permit blocks. Delays reaching 60 days incur administrative fines of AED 1,000 per employee (up to AED 20,000 maximum).
