Overview of UAE Statutory Leave Provisions
Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) enforces strict statutory leave entitlements for private sector workers. These rights apply equally across mainland enterprises and free zone commercial jurisdictions.
Employees on sick leave or maternity leave remain fully protected against unlawful termination. Taking statutory leave does not affect your accrued Article 51 End-of-Service Gratuity Entitlements or ILOE Insurance Coverage.
