Important: Holding a patent is a necessary part of the inventor route, but the patent certificate alone does not automatically issue a Golden Residence.
Current inventor Golden Residency framework
Inventors are included within the 10-year exceptional-talent Golden Residency framework. Current ICP identifies the inventor-specific evidence as a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Economy, while the Ministry of Economy & Tourism states that the applicant should hold a patent that contributes to the country's economy and obtain recommendation or approval from the Ministry of Economy or competent local authority.

Patent ownership vs Golden Residency recommendation
These are two separate stages. A patent is an intellectual-property right; Golden Residency is an immigration status. The current official Golden Visa framework requires both the qualifying invention and the competent authority recommendation/approval.

UAE patent registration requirements
Before discussing Golden Residency, the invention must satisfy the Ministry's patent-law requirements. The current patent service states that the invention must be industrially viable, new, involve an inventive step and be described with sufficient technical disclosure.

ICP's published service time concerns the residence service, not the underlying patent-registration process or the time required to obtain the Ministry recommendation.
Family and business-manager benefits
Current ICP states that Golden Residency holders can obtain residence permits for spouse and children. The Ministry of Economy & Tourism additionally states that a business manager of the talent owner may receive residence subject to the governing requirements, with no more than three business-manager residence permits during the validity of the talent owner's Golden Residency.

Complete Golden Residence
Submit through ICP/GDRFA as applicable and complete health, identity and residence procedures.
