Stateside Renewal Eligibility Checklist
Verify if you satisfy the requirements for stateside visa stamping. Check all items below:
Usually must have been issued by U.S. Consulates in Canada, India, or stateside pilot centers.
You are renewing a previous H-1B visa (does not apply to other categories like H-4, L-1, or F-1 under current rules).
You must have submitted 10-digit fingerprints at a previous visa appointment.
You do not have any visa refusals that have not been overcome.
You must have entered lawfully and maintain a valid I-94 arrival record.
Travel Restrictions During Pending Renewal
If you submit your passport for stateside visa renewal, you must remain in the United States while the application is pending. Do not travel outside the U.S. as you will not have your physical passport or a valid visa foil to re-enter. Processing times typically range from 6 to 12 weeks.
