Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The relative must require long-term personal care to perform everyday tasks (such as washing, dressing, cooking, and bathing) as a result of age, illness, or disability, supported by independent medical reports.

You must prove that required care is either not available or not affordable in the home country. If adequate care is available and affordable in their country of residence, the application will be refused regardless of emotional closeness.

The sponsor must be a British citizen, a person settled in the UK (holding Indefinite Leave to Remain), or hold refugee/humanitarian protection status.
