3. What Causes an eGate Rejection?
A traveller may be referred from an eGate to a Border Force officer for several reasons. Current Home Office guidance identifies categories including border-security enquiries, digital-permission problems, eGate errors, identification errors, passport or microchip problems, safeguarding concerns and user errors. A referral does not by itself mean that the traveller has been refused entry.
