For car and motorcycle tests in Great Britain, you need the relevant provisional driving licence and can book through the official GOV.UK theory-test service. The current fee is £23. Driver CPC Part 1 for lorry and bus drivers is different: Part 1a costs £26 and Part 1b costs £11, and the two parts are booked separately.
For car and motorcycle theory tests, you must pass both parts: at least 43 out of 50 multiple-choice questions and at least 44 out of 75 in hazard perception. Passing one part alone is not enough.
For the Driver CPC Part 1 theory test for lorry and bus drivers, Part 1a has 100 multiple-choice questions with a pass mark of 85. Part 1b is hazard perception with a pass mark of 67 out of 100. Both parts must be passed.
The car and motorcycle theory test costs £23. For lorry and bus Driver CPC Part 1, the multiple-choice Part 1a costs £26 and hazard-perception Part 1b costs £11. Because the two CPC parts are booked separately, the combined Part 1 cost is £37 when both are required.
For car and motorcycle tests, the pass certificate lasts for 2 years and you normally need to pass the practical test within that period. For Driver CPC Part 1, the theory certificate is valid for 2 years from the date you pass the first part, and you need to complete the required Part 3a and 3b driving tests within that period.
You must pass both required parts. For car and motorcycle tests, you must take the full theory test again even if you passed one part. For Driver CPC Part 1, the required parts must both be passed, and you can book another test but must wait at least 3 clear working days before taking it.
