What “security check” means in the published UAE framework
The UAE Government states that residence-visa applicants aged 18 and above must undergo a medical fitness examination, pass a security check and apply for an Emirates ID. The public service guidance confirms the existence of the security check but does not publish a complete applicant-facing description of every internal database, matching rule, security criterion or referral mechanism.
For that reason, this page does not claim that every applicant is automatically screened through a particular list of police, intelligence or Interpol databases, nor does it claim that a particular name match automatically produces an interview. Those details should only be stated when the competent authority specifically confirms them for the individual case.
What the public process actually confirms
Security checks are part of residence processing
The UAE Government states that residence applicants aged 18 and above must pass a security check. This is separate from the medical fitness examination and Emirates ID application.
Internal screening rules are not fully public
Authorities do not publish a complete applicant-facing algorithm showing all databases, matching thresholds, risk criteria or internal referrals. A page should therefore not invent a detailed universal screening workflow.
A name similarity is not automatically a criminal finding
A person with a common or similar name should not assume that a delay proves a criminal record or Interpol alert. The applicant should follow the official authority instructions and provide whatever identification evidence is requested.
Additional verification is case-specific
An immigration authority may request additional documents, clarifications or attendance when necessary. Such a request should not be presented as an automatic step for every visa applicant.

What is an Amer Center?
Amer is associated with Dubai immigration service channels. Official UAE guidance identifies GDRFA Dubai as the authority for Dubai visa applications and states that visa applications can be processed through approved typing/service-centre channels.
An Amer centre therefore should not automatically be described as a “security-clearance interview centre”. A person may be directed to an authorised service channel for an immigration transaction or asked to attend personally where the competent authority requires it.
If an authority asks you to attend
Follow the appointment or official request exactly. Bring the documents identified in that request and keep the visa application reference available.

What if the application is delayed by identity or name matching?
Do not assume the reason
A delay or request for clarification does not by itself prove a criminal record, an Interpol notice or any other specific adverse finding. Applicants generally cannot see the internal decision logic used by immigration authorities.
Use the official route
Keep the application reference, contact the competent authority or authorised service channel and provide the identity evidence requested. Dubai applications should be followed through GDRFA Dubai; other emirates use ICP for the corresponding federal visa services.
Keep identity documents consistent
Passport spelling, date of birth, nationality and other biographical details should be entered consistently across the visa file and supporting documents.
Do not pay for a guaranteed clearance
A private intermediary cannot guarantee a government security decision. Be cautious of anyone claiming to have a special “security-clearance” connection or a guaranteed approval.
Tawjeeh: a separate MoHRE orientation programme
Tawjeeh should not be merged with immigration security screening. Current MoHRE material describes Tawjeeh as an orientation programme provided to the workforce in the UAE. It covers labour-law and regulatory awareness, worker rights and responsibilities, and general information about life and cultural considerations in the UAE.
Applicant preparation checklist
- Check which immigration authority handles the visa: GDRFA Dubai or ICP.
- Keep the passport details exactly consistent with the visa application.
- Retain the application/reference number and official contact details of the sponsor or authorised service channel.
- If the authority requests additional documents, provide only documents relevant to the request and follow the stated submission route.
- Do not rely on unofficial claims that a particular nationality, profession or common name automatically triggers a security interview.
- Track the visa through the official GDRFA or ICP channel rather than relying solely on a typing centre or agent.
- Do not pay an intermediary for a claimed “guaranteed security clearance”; no private intermediary can guarantee an authority’s security decision.
