🇬🇧 British Citizen Birth Registration & Passport

If a child is born in the U.S. to at least one British parent who was born in the UK (British citizen otherwise than by descent), the child is automatically a British citizen from birth.

Step-by-Step Registration Steps:
  1. Obtain the U.S. Birth Certificate (certified copy with state seal).
  2. Apply online on GOV.UK for the child's first British passport.
  3. Submit supporting documents (original UK parent birth certificate, parent U.S. status proofs, and child's U.S. birth certificate) via international mail to HM Passport Office.
  4. Receive the new UK passport and returned original documents separately via secure international courier.
U.S. Birth Certificate

First Priority: Before applying for foreign citizenship or passports, you must secure the child's U.S. birth certificate from the county health department/registrar, and apply for their U.S. Passport and Social Security Number (SSN).
