Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) Guide
If you are applying for Express Entry or PNP, follow these steps to get your foreign degree assessed:
- Create a WES Canada ProfileSelect the "ECA Application for IRCC" option. You will receive a WES Reference Number.
- Order Official Academic TranscriptsRequest your foreign university registrar to send your transcripts directly to WES Canada in a sealed envelope, or digitally via secure electronic channels (e.g. Parchment, Digitary).
- Upload Degree CertificatesUpload clear copies of your diploma/degree certificates directly in your WES dashboard.
- Certified English/French TranslationIf your transcripts are not in English or French, you must submit word-for-word certified translations along with the original files.
- Authorize IRCC AccessCheck the box allowing WES to share your completed ECA report directly with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Designated ECA Agencies
IRCC designates these bodies to perform ECAs:
- WES Canada: Best for general university degrees (fastest).
- IQAS / ICAS / CES: Alternative provincial/university options.
- PEBC: Mandatory for Pharmacists.
- MCC: Mandatory for Physicians.
ECA Validity Limits
For IRCC Express Entry purposes, your completed ECA report is valid for exactly **5 years** from the date of issue.
Ensure your WES report has not expired before you submit your profile or receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
