What is the IRCC Web Form?
The **IRCC Web Form** is the primary portal used by applicants to communicate with immigration officers once an application has been submitted. It is used to submit mandatory updates, upload requested documents, or request status updates on applications that have exceeded standard processing timelines.
When NOT to use the Web Form: Do not submit web forms to check status if your application is still within standard IRCC processing times. Doing so slows down system operations, and agents will respond with a generic automated template.
File Upload Specifications
IRCC enforces strict limits on the sizes and formats of files submitted through the web form portal. Files that do not comply will cause rejection or crash the submission:
| Specification | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Maximum File Size | 2.0 MB per file. Compress all PDFs before uploading. |
| Accepted Formats | PDF, JPEG, JPG, TIFF, DOC, DOCX. PDF is highly recommended. |
| Maximum Files | Up to 5 files per single web form submission. Combine multiple documents into one PDF if needed. |
| Password Protection | Strictly prohibited. Do not submit encrypted or password-protected files. |

👶 Adding a Newborn Child to Pending Application
Required Documents Package:- Child’s birth certificate (showing parents’ names).
- Copy of the child’s passport (if available).
- Updated Form IMM 5406 (Additional Family Information) for both parents.
- Proof of payment of the dependent child fee ($155 CAD).
💡 Pro Tip: Do not wait for the child’s passport to notify IRCC. Submit the birth certificate first via Web Form to secure their place in the application, then upload the passport later.
